Vision & Execution
Hello and welcome to The Workshop Blog! You’re most likely on our website because you need an office or a studio. A pretty basic brick-and-mortar need. Well, you’ve come to the right place because that is what we are. We’re the second floor of a brick-and-mortar, industrial warehouse. If that is all you’re interested in, simply go to ‘Our Spaces’ see what we have and then reach out for a tour. We’d love to set you up in one of our unique and inspiring offices!
Ok, you’re still reading? Thanks! I know…you’re giving this a one-post, trial run before deciding if this is entertaining enough to casually click on a few times a month. I can guarantee I will be too wordy for you and about 95% of humanity today. But that’s fine. The point of this blog will be to share some insights I’ve had over the past 6 years of building and running The Workshop. For those with interest and time, I promise to share what I’ve learned, show what I’ve yet to learn with obvious foot-in-mouth opinions, and hopefully learn something myself in this blog writing process. Also, I promise you’re not going to read the AI version of my thoughts. For better or worse, I’m real as shit and intend to stay that way.
Now, on to the topic! Vision and Execution. Going to keep it short and sweet because this is already too long. Thomas Edison said, “Vision without execution is hallucination.” Back when “The Workshop” was a dirty old warehouse, I would feel this to my core while nearly hallucinating due to all the work Adam and I had signed ourselves up for. 6 years down the road, having clung to our vision, pivoting as needed, the hallucinations have lessened and every once in a while I can look up from the work and be amazed we made it happen.
Last thought, a Japanese proverb, “Action without vision is a nightmare.”
So, if you need a motivational kick in the pants here it is; 1. Stop hallucinating and get to work. 2. Set your sights on what you want to accomplish and wake up from the nightmare of directionless business. You Can Do It!
