Gratitude
It’s November and at The Workshop we have a lot to be thankful for.
We are thankful that all of our studios and offices are currently in leases! BUT, For those of you needing a space, keep checking in! We constantly have leases approaching the end of term and we are always looking for the next good fit.
The weather is finally cooler. Our electric bill typically goes down by 70% during the months of October, November, and December. While this is boring, more breathing room in the budget is always something to be grateful for.
Our website is driving traffic our way! Who knew! I say this tongue-in-cheek because we were 5.5 years behind on getting this done. But whatever, we got it done and it’s doing its job!
Our family studio is getting excellent use these days as Adam’s consulting business has ramped up. We love using The Workshop as a launch pad for our business ideas.
While I’m thankful for all of these very valid reasons to “feel thankful”, I am fully aware that “feeling thankful” is very different than living a life of gratitude.
Gratitude is an action word.
I want to live a life of gratitude even when I’m having trouble getting studios filled with reliable tenants, or the cost to run The Workshop is high in comparison to what it’s bringing in, or I’m consciously neglecting The Workshop because the rest of my life needs so much from me.
This is hard for me to do. If you’re being honest, it’s probably hard for you too. Here are a few things I do and think about to help me when I’m aware that I am the antonym to gratitude.
Recognize that everything I have is a gift and is not always promised.
I’m alive. Enough said.
Look for the beauty in the everyday things around me rather than for all the inconveniences or hardships. (I find what I am looking for. Every time. lol)
Find a way to be generous with either my resources or my time. When I get outside of my head and look to help someone else, I also help my mood.
I hope everyone who reads this is intentional about living a life of gratitude! Happy Thanksgiving and don’t forget to check back if you’ve got your eye on one of our spaces!
